What to compare when specifying architectural lighting
- Beam quality: compare the edge and spill of each optic on the same target, at the same distance.
- Glare: check whether the light source is visible from the standing and seated positions that matter in your space.
- Installation: bring a ceiling section and mounting height, then confirm aperture, recess depth, driver access and dimming compatibility before specifying.
- Project verification: request the datasheet and IES file for the exact luminaire and optic, then test the shortlist on the intended surface.
